Carrots

Before we eat the Carrots we say…

יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ, ה’ אֶלֹקֵינוּ וֵאלֹקֵי אַבוֹתֵינוּ, שֶׁיִרְבּוּ זְכֻיוֹתֵינוּ

Which means….

May it be your will, Hashem our G-d and G-d of our forefathers, that our merits increase.

The Yiddish word for Carrots is Mirrin which means more. We want Hashem to increase our merits and the good we did the past year.
